Education

In education, MCA Namibia aims to improve the delivery and quality of education at secondary and tertiary level. The MCA Namibia investments link into the Education and Training Sector Improvement Program (ETSIP), a 15-year strategic plan to support Namibia’s aspiration to greater industrialisation and equity, within a knowledge-based society, as expressed in the country’s Vision 2030. 

The objective of the Education Project is to improve the quality of the workforce in Namibia by enhancing the equity and effectiveness of basic, vocational, and tertiary education and of technical skills.

Education Project – Activities and Sub Activities (US$145 Million)

Education Quality Activity

- 47 Schools
. Rehabilitation and renovation of Infrastructure including provision for disabled.
. Teachers Housing
. Training programme for school administrators and teachers
. Construction and equipment of computer and science labs at teacher training colleges and schools. 

Vocational and Skills Training Activity
- Establish National Training Fund
- Support priority vocational and skills training areas. 
- Construction and renovation of nine Community Skills Development Centres (COSDECS)
- Support efforts to get the private sector involved in skills training.

Textbook Activity
- Funding for acquisition of science, maths and English text books.
- Improving the system of procurement, distribution and storage of text books

Regional Study Resource Centres Activity (Libraries)
- Construction and equipping of three RSRC’s at Helao Nafidi, Oshakati and Gobabis.

Tertiary Education Finance Activity
- Improve the loan repayment performance of the bursary fund.
